Difference Between CND Shellac and CND Vinylux

As well as their flagship range, CND Shellac, they now also offer CND Vinylux. But what is CND Vinylux and how is it different from CND Shellac?

A manicure is not just a manicure, it enhances an outfit, reflects your personality. You can change it depending on your mood, the season and just because. The geniuses at CND know this. As well as their flagship range, Shellac, they now also offer Vinylux. But what is CND Vinylux and how is it different from Shellac?

What is CND Vinylux?

If you’re busy and don’t want to worry about your nails for a couple of weeks, then CND Shellac is probably for you. But if you want to be able to switch up your nail polish whenever you feel like it, opt for CND Vinylux.

You’ll still get at least a week’s wear out of your polish if you apply it properly. Each polish contains adhesion promoters to ensure smooth application to the nail’s surface, so there’s no need for a base coat. Just apply your CND Vinylux product, wait for it to dry, then apply CND Weekly Top Coat. The topcoat is designed to increase the durability of your nail polish as it is exposed to natural sunlight. This makes it way more chip-resistant than your average nail polish. We told you it was genius!

While it doesn’t dry instantly like Shellac, it doesn’t need curing under a UV lamp. You can remove it with standard nail polish remover too, so your polish can change as often as your mood.

What is CND Shellac?

If you love a long-lasting high-shine manicure, you’ll be familiar with CND Shellac. It promises 14 days of chip-free wear, so it’s perfect for people with busy lives. Shellac cures under a UV light and you remove it by soaking the nails in acetone. Unlike other types of manicures like gel nails, removing Shellac doesn’t cause any damage to the natural nail.

Should I choose CND Shellac or CND Vinylux?

When it comes to nail polishes, there’s so much choice. However, our advice is to think about your lifestyle and what you want from a polish.

Do you want to be able to go to the salon every two weeks, have your nails done and forget about them? Do you want easy removal that doesn’t damage your natural nails? CND Shellac might just be your go-to nail polish.

But if you want to change your nail polish whenever you feel like it and still enjoy a week of wear, Vinylux is your new bff.

Whatever polish you choose, you can’t go wrong with CND. From nail nourishing ingredients to high-performance wear, their nail polishes have something for everyone.

Check out the CND products in our range. We promise we'll convert you from the £1 polish you got in the Superdrug bargain bin! For more advice and interesting articles on all things nails, read the rest of our blog.
